LongStraw started with the vision of transforming India’s most overlooked agricultural byproduct, biomass waste, into an instrument of planetary healing and rural empowerment. In a nation that annually generates over 200 million tonnes of agricultural residue, we saw not refuse, but an untapped repository of ecological promise and economic potential. Rather than consign this biomass to the flames of open burning or the slow decay of neglect, we reimagined it through pyrolysis, as biochar: a stable, soil-enriching form of carbon removal that not only sequesters emissions but catalyses local livelihoods.

Our Team
We come from very different backgrounds but with a common vision -
Vineet is a seasoned entrepreneur, the former CEO of SG Analytics, a leading sustainability focused data analytics company (acquired by Straive) and an active climate-tech investor. His earlier stint with Amba Research culminated with a strategic exit to Moody's. He grew up in the agri-heartlands of Odisha and is a Chartered Accountant by qualification.
Anwita is a Russell group graduate with energy, environmental law & carbon legislation as her academic specialisations. She has worked in the sustainability space across India, England and Singapore and is the subject matter expert at LongStraw Carbon.
Utkarsh is a chemical engineer with experience at the intersection of core technologies & computer science. Along with his venture capital experience and technical knowledge, he provides the company with technical acumen and flexibility to help its goals. He is a graduate from BITS Pilani
